1962年-1966年 在中南民族学院数学系本科学习；

1966年-1967年 因文化革命在中南民族学院待分配；

1978年-1981年 在湘潭大学数学系攻读基础数学专业硕士学位。

1968年-1978年 在湖南省双牌县、道县担任教师；

1981年-现在 在湘潭大学数学与计算科学学院从事教学科研工作；

1981年-1983年 任助教；

1983年-1988年 任讲师；

1988年-1997年 任副教授；

1997年-现在 任教授 。

本科生课程： 高等代数、抽象代数、拓朴学、初等数论；

研究生课程： 代数学、李代数、Kac-Moody代数、同调代数、典型群。

得到了交换环上有限典型群与有限谢瓦利群的阶的计算公式;确定了域与交换环上波莱尔子群的自同构以及矩阵代数的某些子代数的自同构与李自同构;解决了严格上三角矩阵的交换保持问题;还和湘潭大学材料与光电物理学院杨奇斌教授合作，利用矩阵论、二次型等代数方法研究晶体群的分类，取得许多有意义的成果;近年来和李卓、李振亨博士合作展开了对线性代数么半群的研究, 目前国内只有我们这个研究小组从事这方面的研究，特别在对Renner么半群的研究工作方面，处于国际领先地位。

主持湖南省教育厅重点项目一项，作为项目第二负责人参加国家自然科学基金项目三项以及湖南省自然科学基金项目多项。
